Tea Time Tuesday: Chai Iced Tea

It's hot out there guys.  Way too hot to even be contemplating drinking hot tea (although I've done it often with this tooth issue of mine lately (chamomile is a godsend...just sayin).  So, for the next few weeks I will be posting different iced tea recipies.  Because what' the fun in regular unsweet (or sweet) tea?  Granted...it's what I keep stocked in my fridge...but then again I've totally embraced that whole lazy summer attitude that my daughter is a pro at.  Without further ado.....Chai (you know I love it) Iced Tea!!!

The Stuffs You Need to Make It:

  • 8 chai tea bags

  • 4 cups hot water

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup orange-flavored cream soda

  • 1/2 cup vanilla-flavored cream soda

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • Cinnamon sticks, if desired

  • How You Make It:

Chill glasses in freezer several hours before serving.

Steep tea bags in hot water 3 to 5 minutes. Remove bags. Stir vanilla and brown sugar into tea until sugar is dissolved. Stir in all remaining ingredients except cinnamon sticks. Refrigerate at least 1 to 2 hours to blend flavors.

Serve over ice. Garnish with a cinnamon stick (or two).

    Drink and Say "Aaahhhhh".

Meditation Monday: Swift as a Race Horse

Sutra:  Mindful among the mindless, Awake while others dream, Swift as the race horse He outstrips the field.  ~The Dhammapada of Gautama the Buddha,  CA. 500BC~

That is the difference between a buddha and others.  Others are only dreaming, not really living, hoping to live some day, preparing to live, but not living.  And that day never comes -- before that day comes, death.
A buddha is awake.  Even while he is asleep he does not dream.  When desires disappear, dreams disappear too.  Dreams are desires translated into the language of sleep.  A buddha sleeps with absolute alertness.  The light goes on burning within him.  The body needs rest, hence the body sleeps, but he needs no rest -- the energy is inexhaustible.
There at the center of his being, a small light goes on burning.  The whole circumference is fast asleep but that light is alert, awake.  We are asleep even while we are awake; he is awake even when he is asleep.

It Can't Rain All The Time.....

But I sure wish to hell it would.  Things have been slow here in the Tea Closet.  I just completely lack any and all motivation for posting, cleaning, getting out of bed in the morning.  It's just been too darn hot.  And of course....because I require the best (Pretty Woman reference)....we live in an upstairs apartment where it's super warm during the day.  A witch can't win.  *sigh*  Oh well...I'm counting down the days till Fall.  There are too many.  LOL.

In other news...it's the Full Moon.  Yay!!!  This month is the Blessing Moon and falls under the sign of Capricorn.  My handy-dandy witches datebook says this is the moon to consider the polarities of leadership and service.  Ummm....nah...I'm just gonna go plug in my MP3 player and attempt to get some writing done.  Maybe sit under the light of the moon later and let it soak out all my troubles.  I'm hoping to get out of this funk I've been in for the past....oh....month or so.  I've just been lacking...in everything.  Time to get it together!!!!  Yes...that's what I'll concentrate on during my Moon Bath later.  Getting the fires of motivation lit again.  :)

So....there's a quick update from me.  I hope everyone enjoys the Full Moon.  Hopefully I'll be back to my full bloggy goodness before the next one.
